The Goldrush Walk

The Goldrush Walk is actually a series of walks from Geelong to Yackandandah which will take place over about 5 years.  The first stage was held on Saturday December 4 from Cunningham Pier, Geelong, to Fyansford.  Stage 2 was held on March 5 2011 from Fyansford to a point about 3km north-east of Gheringhap.  Stage 3 was from there to Maude on July 2.  All stages will be between 12 and 18 kms.

The route of the Goldrush Walk is to include as many as practicable of the goldfields of the middle-late 1800s, such as Steiglitz, Ballarat, Castlemaine, Bendigo, Heathcote, Rushworth and Beechworth with the final stage finishing at Yackandandah.

The walk will incorporate about 50 day walks.  Once a year we will do a week of walking while staying in local accommodation. At other times as we get further from Melbourne, we will stay away for a weekend and walk each day.

Remaining Goldrush Walks scheduled for 2011 have been postponed for personal reasons.  Walks will resume in early 2012.

Non-members of the Essendon Bushwalking Club are eligible to do up to 3 walks in a year by paying the visitor fee, but after the three walks they must become a member to be allowed to continue.
